UNESCO New Zealand

Following the 35th General Conference in October 2009, the National Commission held a consultation with its Sub-Commissions, Associate Members, Cooperating Bodies and other key stakeholders to develop a Strategic Plan for 2010 - 2011.  The resulting Strategic Plan focuses on key areas of relevance to New Zealand and the Pacific from within the international programme. Three specific intersectoral priorities were agreed for the next two years. These priorities will require on Sub-Commissions to work in collaboration, consolidating partnerships, and developing and strengthening synergies with the New Zealand Government’s priorities.

The three intersectoral priorities are:

• To promote dialogue and strategies for sustainable futures. 
• To promote an informed society and freedom of expression.
• To realise the richness and strength of diversity.

Three supplementary strategies support these priorities.
